Webinar: EU Water Framework Directive and Floods Directive

This webinar organised by EUROCITIES aims to inform cities about the fitness check conducted by the European Commission on water legislation, in particular the EU Water Framework Directive and the Floods Directive.

Lourdes Alvarellos, policy officer for water industry at the European Commission (DG ENVI), will explain the main issues at stake in the evaluation of the water legislation, and the evaluation process.

The presentation will last for about 20 minutes, and will be followed by 40 minutes of Q&A. This webinar will be an opportunity to learn more about the potential implications of the fitness check for cities, and to ask questions or pass messages directly to the European Commission. The webinar is reserved for EUROCITIES members and cities that are part of the Urban Water Agenda 2030 community.

Background:

In the second semester of 2017 the European Commission released the evaluation and fitness check roadmap of the EU Water Framework Directive and the Floods Directive. During this process, the European Commission will look at the potential for simplification and further integration with other pieces of EU legislation.
